Miyajima Kaleidoscopes... Part I

An hour's tramcar ride from Hiroshima station brought us to Hiroden-Miyajimaguchi Station from where we walked across to the ferry jetty to catch a ferry to take us across to Miyajima island.
By now the rain had increased in intensity and we had to buy umbrellas from the 7-Eleven store next to the jetty.
And then a short ferry ride brought us to Miyajima island...

These statuettes welcome us to Miyajima...

And it continues to pour...

♥ Miyajima...

The famed Hiroshima oysters...

Another local delicacy is the Conger eel...

The wedding bureau...

Grilling oysters...

A local hand pulled rickshaw...

Walking through main street of Miyajima that leads to the Itsukushima Shrine...

Various fish cakes...

And we walk up to the Itsukushima Shrine...
