Roadside Cambodian Delights...

We had hoped to rest a while on the way back from TonlĂ© Sap to Siem Reap, but we couldn't catch even a few winks, as we enjoyed sights of the mesmerizing Cambodian countryside...

And that's when our guide made an unscheduled halt to treat us to a local Cambodian delight, the kralan!

The kralan is a rice dish made of sticky rice with red beans, sugar, grated coconut and coconut milk. The mix is stuffed into a bamboo stem and roasted...

A makeshift oven by the road-side...

Even though the rice stuffed in bamboo stems is cooked over charcoal embers, it is a slow cooking process...

And loads of goodness...

The kralan was warm and delightful but not quite sweet!

And we are on the road, headed back to Siem Reap!

And here we are, in our resort, to enjoy the rest of the evening!
