Through The Gates Of Bab Agnaou...

Coming back from the Saadian Tombs, we walked all the city walls towards the Bab Agnaou Gate...

A section of the city wall...

As it gets warmer, people take comfort under the shade...

The way to Bab Agnaou...

Beautiful but tiny balconies...

There is a certain rustic charm in these alleyways...

A cafe on the way to Bab Agnaou...

My guide insisted that I visit the Bab Agnaou Herboristerie - a shop that sells spices, medicinal herbs, essential oils, and natural cosmetics. I picked up some argan oil. Argan oil is produced from the kernels of the argan tree that is native to Morocco. Here, argan oil is used to dip bread in at breakfast or to drizzle on couscous or pasta. It is also used for cosmetic, skincare purposes...
I also picked up a few blocks of amber which can be kept in a wardrobe and give out a lovely and fresh aroma...

As I approach the Bab Agnaou gate, I can't help but notice these birds with their large nests...

And there I am at Bab Agnaou...

Bab Agnaou is one of the nineteen gates of Marrakech's walled city. It was built in the 12th century in the time of the Almohad dynasty, as the entrance to the royal quarter of the medina of Marrakech. The facade consists of alternating sections of stone and brick surrounding the horseshoe arch. The corner-pieces are decorated with floral decorations extending around a shell. This ornamentation is framed by three panels and on these panels have Koranic inscriptions...

And there we go...
