Up In The Air .... Part 61

Goodbye Samoa - taking off from Faleolo Airport enroute to Nadi...

The greenery of Samoa is amazing!

Wow... that's quite a paradise!

Clouds over the Pacific...

Approaching Viti Levu island of Fiji!

A view of Beachcomber and Treasure islands...

Lining up with Runway 09-27...

Naisoso Island...

And I am here in Fiji...

Fa'afetai Tele Ma Tofa, Samoa!

And here I am at Faleolo  Airport, waiting for my flight to Nadi...
While the terminal building is ready (completed early this year), the landside infrastructure is still being completed...

And the terminal is pretty spic and span...
Just a handful airlines including Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand and Fiji Airways operate to Faleolo...
Besides, Samoa has its own airline - Samoa Airways, branded as Polynesian that operates to Australia, New Zealand and American Samoa...

The departures board...

Keeping a track of Neeti's flight from Incheon to Nadi on FlightRadar24...
And we are eagerly awaiting our short holiday in Fiji...

Checking out the duty free...

Colourful Samoan fabric...

"Leave A Little Sparkle Wherever You Go"
Checking out some souvenirs...

The lovely view from the departure hold area...
And it appears the incoming Fiji Airways flight from Nadi has been inordinately delayed...

And I can't see my flight coming in...

And with a view like this - a lovely view of the ocean, who can complain about a flight delay...

And here comes in my flight and we should be boarding in sometime...
And Neeti has started WhatsApping me the first pics from Fiji - more on that later...

Boarding the Fiji Airways ATR72 - boarding proceeded very slowly, typical island style, or shall I say on "Fiji Time"?

And the lovely view...

I had to convert my remaining Samoan Tala - but the exchange counter did not have Fijian Dollars. The only available currencies were Tongan paʻanga and the New Zealand dollar...

From an ease of conversion perspective, I exchanged the Samoan Tala for the New Zealand dollar...

And it's almost time to go...

Or time to say Fa'afetai Tele Ma Tofa, Samoa!

Or thank you and goodbye Samoa!

The Drive To Faleolo...

And as the Samoan leg of the South Pacific Trip comes to an end, I head to Faleolo Airport to fly out of Samoa into Fiji, today...

Driving along the Beach Road...

A busy Samoan morning...

The clear blue skies are something I could die for the experience this each day...

Passing by the village of Vaimoso...

The Vaimoso fale...

A lovely bungalow...

The Apia Samoa Temple...

That's actually a church...

Passing by the Lapea village...

Lapea is a picturesque settlement consisting of round Samoan fale built in a concentric pattern in large open grounds (malae)...

The traditional fale represents how the Samoan society functions. The fale have no walls and families of upto 20 can live in these shelters. The open fale signifies the openness and welcoming nature of the Samoan people...

The Vaiusu Catholic Church...

Another picturesque fale...

Ekalesia Metotisi Samoa - another church...

Another one of the Samoan buses...

And there comes the ocean...

Isn't this beautiful...

And we will be at the airport in a few moments...
