Plane Spotting At BKK .... Part 2

Landing at Bangkok's Suwarnabhumi airport in the afternoon haze was a bit of a dampener with not too much traffic around, but I had to spend my 8-hour layover here doing the best of Plane Spotting that I could...

A Qatar Airways Airbus A380 parked in the distance...

But a combination of haze and dusty windows meant all I could get was an unclear shot!

An Etihad Boeing 777...

The new Etihad livery is yet to be deployed across its fleet...

A Lufthansa Airbus A340 and a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 in the distance!

Kenya Airways' Boeing 787 Dream)liner...

"The Pride Of Africa"

Pushback for this bird from Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta Airport...

Today, she's operating as KQ860, on a fifth-freedom flight between Bangkok and Hong Kong...

This is why I do not enjoy spotting at Bangkok, the windows are covered with a film that obstructs a clear view of the ramp...

This is the best shot one can manage from inside the terminal. There you have a Jetstar Pacific Airbus A320, a China Spirit Airbus A320, Xiamen Air Boeing 737 and a Hainan Airlines Airbus A330...

The big bird, Thai's Airbus A380...

Oh wow - I spot an interesting bird - Royal Jordanian's Airbus A330 in the distance next to EVA Air's Boeing 777 and Cathay Pacific's Airbus A330...

I wish I could get a clearer shot of this lovely black and golden bird from Amman's Queen Alia Airport - she will fly onward to Hong Kong in some time operating another fifth-freedom flight!

Another exotic bird - Mahan Air's Airbus A340 from Tehran's Imam Khomenei airport. Now this is a controversial carrier - it is reportedly defying Western sanctions to fly into Syria and some allege the airline flies arms into Damascus!

Up In The Air .... Part 46

The largely uneventful flight from Mumbai into Bangkok gave me a lot of time to rest and catch up on some much deserved sleep. But then as we came in to land at Bangkok's Suwarnabhumi Airport, I was greeted by some amazing Up In The Air vistas...

Thick Monsoon clouds along the approach into BKK...

The greenery around Bangkok is amazing!

Though I wish it were a bit clearer...

At FL110...

The clouds are lovely...

A lot in one photo - the large Boeing 737 engine, white fluffy clouds, habitations and rice-fields below...

And it gets hazy...

The haze is my worst enemy...

But the Sun does eventually shine through...

Patches of light on the ground, passing through gaps in the clouds...

And clearer views of the rice-fields...

Lovely...

On the final approach!

Plane Spotting At BOM -- Part XI

The short trip to India comes to an end. I am all packed up and ready for some action back in Songdo, but not before some Plane Spotting action at my home airport, Mumbai!

A busy afternoon at Mumbai as I landed in from Delhi. And there are quite a few exotic birds on the ramp today - Oman Air's Boeing 737, the biggies from two of India's national carriers - Boeing 777 of Emirates (the de facto national carrier) and Air-India's Boeing 787 Dream)liner, and PIA - Pakistan International Airlines' Airbus A320...

Would calling a PIA bird exotic be justified? I leave it for you to decide...

The Air-India Dream)liner in the Star Alliance livery...

Jet Airways Boeing 777...

Saudi Arabian Boeing 747-400...

Back to the airport this morning to catch my flight to Bangkok and my next exotic find - Kenya Airways Boeing 737 - The Pride Of Africa...

Saudi Arabian Boeing 777...

And now it's Bangkok ahoy!

Up In The Air .... Part 45

And after the boring flight from Delhi, it was time for the descent into magical, Monsoon-ed Mumbai, some amazing Up In The Air moments!

It's quite misty today, with moisture hanging in the air...

We are approaching Runway 14-32 instead of the usual 09-27 today...

Overflying Uran right now...

There I can see the Nhava Sheva port...

A clearer view of Nhava Sheva container port...

Gharapuri or Elephanta island is a natural breakwater for the port!

The oil jetty of Bharat Petroleum...

Descending over Chembur...

The Chembur Golf Club!

And the LBS Marg! Mumbai, here I am - finally at home, but just about 16 hours!
