Guten Morgen, Luzern! Part II

From the Kapellbrücke, which has come to be regarded as an enduring symbol of Lucerne, we cycled inwards towards the Jesuitenkirche, a church set up in 1574 to educate Jesuits.

One look at the Kapellbrücke before cycle ahead...

An interesting lane behind the Jesuitenkirche...

Local flags...

This is where we relaxed gulping down gallons of water, afterall it was very warm...

Renovation works on at the Jesuitenkirche...

Rear of the Jesuitenkirche...

Cycling along a residential area...

The Virgin Mary...

And Christ...

Ornate window of the Jesuitenkirche...

Headed back to the Reuss River...

Lucerne is indeed a paradise for cyclists...

At the Nadelwehr, not too far from the Kapellbrücke...
The Nadelwehr, constructed in 1859, is a weir system regulating the flow of the Reuss River from Lake Lucerne. The energy from the flow was harnessed to operate mills...

The weir system at work...

The Rathaussteg, a bridge between Nadelwehr and the Kapellbrücke...

Medieval German architecture...

A pigeon strutting around...

We stopped by for a lemon gelato here...

A medieval city gate...

Crossing the Kramgasse, over the Reuss...

Can't get my eyes off the Wasserturm...

Finally a full view of the Jesuitenkirche from the Kramgasse bridge...

The old city square...

The old town hall, the Rathaus...

Located in the Kornmarkt square, the Rathaus was built in the early 1600s...
The Kornmarkt dates to 1356, and as the name suggests, it was the city grain market place until the 1800s. Grain was stored in the ground floor of the Town Hall

The Rathaus is an Italian Renaissance style building and is covered with an overhanging roof, typical style from the canton of Bern...

The clock tower known as the Zyt Tower, is one of nine towers of Lucerne, which dates back to 1386 and it chimes one minute before the other city clock's!

And back at the Wasserturm...

We have company!

Entrance to the Kapellbrücke...

And now we head to Lake Lucerne...
