Heureux D'être À Genève!

After two days in Lucerne, the time finally came to say goodbye to this interesting city as we moved on to our next destination, the very cosmopolitan city of Geneva located in the French speaking part of south western Switzerland.

We woke up to a bright morning in Lucerne and we scrambled to get ready for the journey to Geneva and the action-packed day ahead...

And we need a good amount of energy...

...which came from an appetizing breakfast!

We then walked down to the station, the Luzern Bahnhof to catch our train to Geneva. Thanks to our 8-day Swiss Travel Pass, we had unlimited access to the rail, bus and boat network across the country...

With nearly two hours to kill, we slept a bit, but for the larger part of time, we played multiple games of Uno!

The train ride took us along the shores of Lake Geneva, past the city of Lausanne, which is home to the International Olympic Committee...

And finally our train rolled into Genève-Cornavin, Switzerland's biggest railway station...

Genève-Cornavin is a major railway hub connecting France to Switzerland...

After a brief taxi ride from Genève-Cornavin we reached our hotel at Rue de Zurich. We were an hour prior to the check in time, but rules here are RULES - bold, underlined and italicized, with little room for any kind of flexibility. (I wonder why Europeans, in general, and the Swiss in particular are like this?)

And as we wait to check in to our hotel, we grabbed a sandwich from a cafe nearby...

Lucerne, By Night...

After a grueling day at Engelberg and Mount Titlis, we were motivated by the breathtaking views of Lucerne city. And that motivated us to step out of our hotel and take a walk around...

The old Bahnhof gate looks stunning at night...

A heritage hotel across River Reuss...

The Hofkirche St. Leodegar does look pretty at night!

Which way do I go?

The Kapellbrücke at night...

The Rathaus clock tower...

A view of the old town across the Reuss...

At the Kapellbrücke again...

The lady heads to cross the Kapellbrücke...

The Monopol Hotel...

THe Monopol was host to a group of young soldiers chilling after their return from duty...

And it was time to head back to my hotel...

Some More Postcards From Enchanting Engelberg...

After descending from Mount Titlis, it was time to enjoy the scenic beauty of Engelberg again...

Scenic views from the car park next to the cable car station at Engelberg...

The gurgling stream added to the charm of the scenic views...

Who wouldn't want to be up there...

As we walked to the Engelberg station, we passed by the quaint and charming buildings of the town...

And in some time, we boarded our train to Lucerne!
