Up In The Air .... Part 39

Up In The Air is back, this time with incredible scenes of the journey back from Oaxaca to Mexico City...

An incredible view immediately after takeoff...

The clouds cast an incredible shadow over the Sierra Madre mountains...

Leaving Oaxaca city below us...

Overflying the Sierra Madre range...

The incredibly beautiful land of Oaxaca state below us...

Rugged green mountains and valleys...

And lots of magical fluffy clouds...

Cruising altitude...

We begin our descent into Mexico City...

Overflying Mexico City and lining up...

The neat layout of Mexico City...

I presume that's the Popocatépetl volcano in the distance...

On short finals...
And here I am in Ciudad de México!

Adios Oaxaca!

After an incredible last few days here in Oaxaca, I am returning back to Songdo today, and am carrying back incredible memories of this lovely place...

On the drive to the Xoxocotlán Airport, I spot a Bajaj Auto service station - o wow, Bajaj has a presence here!

Traditional sculptures on display at the airport...
I found the Oaxacans quite proud of their Mesoamerican heritage and roots, even though they do not remember the nuances of their parent culture, which had been mercilessly wiped out!

Souvenir shopping...
There is never a bad time to pick up some fridge magnets or t-shirts!

Waiting to board!

¡Buen viaje!

The Aeromexico counter!

Boarded and taxiing...

And off we go!

Over the piano keys...
Adios Oaxaca!

Plane Spotting At OAX

As I get ready to say goodbye to Oaxaca, there couldn't be a better way to end the trip than to indulge a round of Plane Spotting at the exotic Aeropuerto Internacional Xoxocotlán of Oaxaca!

Wow! I had seen this exotic bird - the black Boeing 727 on Airliners.net and, now, I finally see it!

Belonging to the Federal Police of Mexico, this classic bird ferries security personnel throughout the country and presumably it is here due to the ongoing unrest in Oaxaca!

TAR Aerolineas Embraer ERJ 145...

Pushing back...

Goodbye Oaxaca!

A Lot More Postcards From Charming Oaxaca de Juárez...

And this short lovely trip to Oaxaca comes to an end. But before heading out to the airport, I stepped out of the hotel to enjoy the sights of Oaxaca once more and to pick up a few bottles of Mezcal...

She makes me fall in love...

Walking through Jardin Conzati...

A tai-chi session underway...

Flawless fluidic movements...

A lovely house across the street from Jardin Conzati...

Bright and bold colours of Oaxaca...

At the Santo Domingo...

A school graduation party at the church...

A lovely day - the cool crisp morning air and lovely colours to appreciate...

...can I ask for more?

Picking up Oaxacan handicrafts...

Mesoamerican imagery...

The cobbled streets and the amazing architecture speak of the grandeur of an era gone by...

Catedral de Nuestra Señora De La Asunción...

A building of cantera stone...

Window shopping...

I can go on and on, walking on these amazing streets...

...soaking in all the history...

...but now I have to make a dash for the airport!
