After an invigorating dose of 700 years of history at the National Museum of Singapore, I walked down to one building that represents the incredible transformation that Singapore has seen over the last 50 years.
I am talking about CHIJMES, a convent for girls and a chapel which has been transformed into a high-end retail and fine-dine Mecca.
Approaching CHIJMES from across Victoria Street!
The legendary Gate of Hope!
Sad stories of the past when giving birth to a girl child was not considered great!
Hallowed gates of CHIJMES... for CHIJMES was where lives of abandoned girls were nurtured!
CHIJMES was not only lovingly built but also painstakingly restored!
Still standing strong!
The alfresco seating area of Carnivore, a fine dine barbecue restaurant!
Basking in warm dusk sunlight!
The glass ceiling in the walkway...
This bar in CHIJMES would literally light up your evening!
Birds in Flight - an interesting sculpture near CHIJMES!
Back at Balestier, I witnessed the incredible, magical fiery dusk skies...
