Singapore Culinary Chronicles... Part VIII

Our culinary adventures in Singapore were quite exciting, with indescribable surprises, mostly pleasant, in store for us at every corner...
Yesterday, before we set out to watch the dolphins at Sentosa, we were feeling too lazy to step out to Balestier Market for breakfast. Instead, we opted to head to Toast Box at Zhongshan Mall next door...

The Asian Delight Sets looked exciting!

I opted for the yum, spicy and tangy Mee Rebus...
Mee Rebus is a delectable concoction of  yellow egg noodles, with a spicy slightly sweet curry-like gravy. The gravy is made from sweet potatoes, curry powder, salted soybeans, dried shrimps, and peanuts
Mee Rebus is garnished with a hard boiled egg, limes, spring onions, green chillies, fried firm tofu (tau kwa), fried shallots and bean sprouts...

Neeti opted for a sandwich from BreadTalk next door...
With our tummies filled, we were set for the day...

After our date with the lovely dolphins, we stopped by at the Food Republic food court at VivoCity Mall...
Neeti took Indian fare - classicial Tamil lemon rice, while I opted for a Malay sensory overload - Nasi Lemak... It was indeed delicious...

As is wont with tourists in Singapore, we headed to Jurong Bird Park...
On the way back, we stopped by at Boon Lay MRT for some tea and that's when I spotted egg tarts on sale... I had this yummy stuff in Macau couple of years back... and I ha dto have them now...

We had heard a lot about Mustafa's and that was perhaps the only incentive for us to visit Little India, late last night...
We reached there around 10PM. As we stepped out of the MRT station, after a couple of blocks, we spotted a Kailash Parbat restaurant... We lived next to a Kailash Parbat for 8 years in Mumbai, but this was the first time we both were genuinely excited to see it literally, pop out in our path...
Unfortunately, it was closing for the day...

A few blocks ahead, we saw an Indian restaurant... we stepped in and had a dosa...
Oh man, it gave us both a bad tummy... And this was our first meal in Little India...

This morning before we headed out to Changi, we stopped by at Balestier Market for breakfast...
While stuck to kaya toast, soft boiled eggs and kopi-c, Neeti, it seemed, was homesick...
She headed to the Indian food stall and ordered roti-prata, a South East Asian take on the lacchha paratha with egg in it...

She got into a conversation with the cashier... The guy was a Bangladeshi, who has been in Singapore for over 20-odd years...
The roti-prata wasn't too bad, it was rather good...

With this, our culinary adventure in Singapore has come to a pause for there are no fullstops when it comes to great food. Hope to be back here to try the goodies, soon...
