Sublimal, Surreal Arashiyama...

If you visit Kyoto, you must head down to the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove for a sublimal, out of the world, surreal experience.

After checking in toour hotel room at Kyoto station, we headed out to explore the surreal Arashiyama Bamboo Garden. Located in the far north-west of Kyoto, getting to Arashiyama is quite a task. A transfer at Nido subway station and then a 30 minute bus ride shaves a precious 90 minutes from the day. But despite the distance, Arashiyama is an unmissable place...

Crossing the railway tracks to head to the bamboo grove...

We've got to mind the do's and the dont's...

And here we are in the midst of towering bamboos that sway in the light, cool breeze...

And sunlight makes quite an effort to trickle through the thicket...

There is a "poetic" air around here...

A quiet, tranquil and enchanting environ...

Perhaps, this is what should be like - to live in the midst of towering nature and not towering skyscrapers...

If I could, I would spend my entire here...

A little shrine...

Getting ready to pose for photographs...

And I discovered that the kimono is indeed quite a graceful dress...

Isn't the sight inviting...

This trail is really very peaceful...

I wonder why life isn't so simple...

At the end of the trail...

And we exit towards Nonomiya...
