Tetsugaku No Michi - The Philosopher's Walk...

If there's another enchanting place in Kyoto that is absolutely unmissable, it is the Tetsugaku No Michi or the Philosopher's Walk. That is where we headed from Kinkakuji Temple...

Basking in the glow of dusk, we reach Tetsugaku No Michi...

The path runs for 2 kilometres from Nanzenji Temple to Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion) along the northeastern periphery of Kyoto, along the beautiful Shishigatani canal, which is lined up with cherry, maple and camellia trees...

The pathway is lined up with pretty homes, some shops, restaurants and a few galleries and craft shops...

The path gets its name from Nishida Kitaro, a Kyoto University professor of philosophy from the early 1900s, who used to stroll and meditate on the path...

It's hard not to get poetic here...

The pathway is indeed quite charming...

A boutique along the pathway with an interesting seating...

Stopping by for cuppa...

...at the Rail Model & Cafe!

Seating Japanes style...

The friendly owner handed out our tea-lattes and a complimentary plate of Yatsuhashi - a typical Kyoto sweet made from rice flour, sugar and cinnamon, all because she was happy that we visited her cafe! That was quite a warm feeling and I guess that was probably because we are Indians! Can you see why I fell in love with Japan?

Leaving the Philosopher's Walk...

And heading to the main road...

And this couple in traditional Japanese attire were happy to pose for us as we headed to Gion...
